Stop and Smell the Roses: House of Matriarch's Coco Blanc

I am obsessed with scents and find that smell can tell you if something is safe, clean, food, calming or plain offensive. There is no surprise when I broached the idea to the team they agreed  I should speak about fragrances. Before graduating from college I worked in fragrance for more than five years and picked up some fragrance gigs in New York to bring in additional income. Plus, I love to smell perfume and bring the power of alchemy into peoples lives. It's truly a pleasure of mine. I find that I outfit people with perfume the way a stylist would to a client.

I truly believe a fragrance can elevate your mood, spread happiness and sends nonverbal cues to a passerby. Scents are just like clothing in the way one can dress themselves for an occasion or mood. In saying this, I will share my humble opinion about fragrances here on this blog along with cosmetics and footwear.

I'd seen a couple of Youtubers rave about this fragrance and I had to get my hands on it to see what the craze was about. Coco Blanc is a decadent creation from the House of Matriarch's nose Christi Meshell. Her story is purely magical as she conceptualizes fragrances for love and attraction or protection and amulets. I've always thought the fragrance industry stirred up chaos because they blend herbs and flowers that are not compatible spiritually. Meshell has done all the hard work for you and has a collection of herb and flower spiritually compatible fragrance collection.

Coco Blanc won sexiest female fragrance of 2013 from the International Artisan Fragrance Awards. So, I HAD to see what the hoopla was all about. It is a vanilla and woods based scent. I am not typically partial to vanilla based fragrances. Sweet is also not my fragrance genre as well. But, I am a fan of white chocolate and this is a featured note in Coco Blanc. Additionally, other fragrance reviews expressed that it was not sweet, but creamy. Meshell describes it as lactic. I enjoy milk in my fragrance as it gives another dimension like milk would to tea. Henceforth my purchase.

Notes: White chocolate, vanilla, natural musk, musky woods, and Masala chai

Coco Blanc is a unisex feminine (U/F) fragrance. I say unisex U/F because the top notes are full blown vanilla covered in musk and steeped in Masala chai. The white chocolate creates a depth and creaminess that I think expresses itself after about 30 minutes.  Coco Blanc lasted about 4-5 hours on my skin. Not a huge vanilla fan for me like other fragrances that I love, but I did enjoy it for myself. Also, I'd have to say it's a night time fragrance or a autumn scent. I think it's also a good date scent, but may be to seductive for a work environment. But, perfect for fun night out. The woman that wears this gourmand fragrance is confident, sensual, and is seen and not heard. At the end it smells like a baby. Like precious and supple skin. I enjoy the flesh-like subtly. It's different and I've never smelled it. It's certainly not baby powder, but flesh. Weird, but it has a quality of milky sweet skin. I gave it a 3.8 because it does not have long sillage on my skin. It whispers on my skin, not shouts. Some may like mild fragrances and if that's true I'd suggest this scent.

The fragrance retails for 1ml for $13/15ml for $120/50ml for $330
