Shoe Queen: Celebrity Edition--Audrey Hepburn
Bold eyebrows, dainty nose and strong smile. Audrey Hepburn was known for her star role in movies like Breakfast at Tiffany's, My Fair Lady and Roman Holiday. Not to mention, women coveted her simple style. For instance, her signature boyish eyebrows, blunt bangs and almond-shaped winged eyeliner. Additionally, she donned cigarette pants, turtleneck sweaters and A-line dresses. Thus, her style could be described as classic minimal chic. But, did you know she had big feet? Yep, standing tall at 5'7, she sported a size 10.5.
During Audrey's supreme reign of the 1950s and 60s, women were on average a size 5.5 or 6. I suspect she wore flats and kitten heels mainly because she was a hard-to-fit shoe size at the time, which makes since as to why she mainly wore ballet flats.
Conclusively, Audrey Hepburn is our shoe queen. She is synonymous with the ballet flat. All along we thought she preferred flat, but it was really because there was--and still is, limited extended-size shoe availability.
